Blueforce Announces Support for AXIS Ground Surveillance Radar

Blueforce Development technologies have been a cornerstone for border counter-terrorism joint task forces (JTF) since 2009 here in the United States and OCONUS.  Our sensor fusion technology, found in both BlueforceEDGE and BlueforceTACTICAL, enables sensors from disparate manufacturers to be fused into a single stream of data, enabling the coveted single pane of glass common operating picture.  You can see it in action here in one of our YouTube videos.

Minimizing “false positives” is a goal for any intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) mission.  The principal function of the ISR component of command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (C4ISR) is to find, fix, and track both friendly and hostile actors. In addition to sensing (collection), the ISR process includes the tasking of sensors and the integration, interpretation, and exploitation of sensed information through various PED processes.

Sensor cueing and advanced rules algorithms, powered by Blueforce, makes this possible.  The “cross sensor cueing” capabilities enabled by BlueforceEDGE and BlueforceTACTICAL combines data from multiple sensors to help automatically “cue” other sensors and/or information services to take additional steps to include pivoting cameras or directing autonomous platforms to the site of the detection.

Radar continues to evolve and has become an indispensable tool in the area of ISR.  Radar technology is used for accurate and reliable area detection of moving objects in different light and weather conditions, and has increasingly become miniatured making it a superior tool for border and perimeter detection.  When combined with seismic, acoustic, magnetometer, and other IR/imagery solutions (to include short-wave infrared and millimeter-wave infrared), ground radar technology can reduce false positives while increasing operational efficiency.

Axis Communications products have been a “go to” technology for Blueforce and our customers for years given their early support for trigger boxes, virtual trip wires, video analytics, open APIs, and rules.  When we first saw the Axis D2050-VE radar, we knew it would be an important tool for our defense, law enforcement, homeland security, and corporate security customers.

The AXIS D2050-VE detects movement and nothing but movement, 24 hours a day. It’s not sensitive to things that often trigger false alarms, like moving shadows or light beams, small animals, raindrops or insects, wind, and bad weather. With 120-degree horizontal coverage and up to a 50-meter (164 feet) range, it also delivers the angle of movement, size, and speed of moving objects. Plus, it provides exact positions, allowing you to filter on distance. So the information you get isn’t just accurate, there’s also more of it. AXIS D2050-VE is also robust. It features vandal protection, and it’s made to withstand outdoor environments from -40°C to 60°C (-40°F to 140°F).

Standards are paramount to achieving rapid adaptation, but also interoperability.  Axis clearly supports this value.  Upon initial exploration of the product, it became apparent that the product would integrate and operate “out of the box” with Blueforce products and services given our previous integration with Axis optical products.   Blueforce is proud to announce support for the AXIS D2050-VE ground radar with native support for:

Furthermore, the AXIS D2050-VE is the perfect complement to deployed Axis cameras. In addition to triggering an alarm when it detects an intruder via Blueforce, it can also trigger recording for visual verification. And with AXIS Radar Autotracking for PTZ, the detector can send the exact coordinates of detected people or objects directly to your PTZ cameras, which can then automatically zoom in on the object with no manual interferences.
